Kele Okereke from one of my favorite bands Bloc Party came out with a solo album titled The Boxer earlier this year, and of all the tracks from that great album the song Everything You Wanted was a stand-out in my opinion. So check it out as the second single for yourself.
These Air Jordan II kicks are the first ever Jordans to have been designed by a female who just so happens to be one of my role models Vashtie Kola. They have lavender and deep-purple colorway with silver details in the laces to complement the metallic mid-sole. The colour pallets chosen for these sneakers seem to be taken from Vashtie's clothing line "Violette". They will be released October 2nd.
Even though it has vampires, werewolves, and ghost it is way better than anything Stephanie Meyer could have ever written. They just started airing the series in Canada so sorry if I seem behind on my television shows, but check it out.
Here are some summer tunes to keep you busy till I'm back.
1.
We'll start the playlist off with some Canadian Talent Art of Fresh with their track Out Of This World. It's a fun catchy upbeat song that just sets a nice mood for a chill summer.
2.
Next we have Scars from Basement Jaxx and even though Chipmunk is on the tack I'm actually not bothered by it that much because the production in my opinion makes up for it.
3.
I had to put BLK JKS on my list because they are just a breath of fresh air and fill my void of afro rock at this moment which is never a bad thing and also they're from South Africa.
4.
Chiddy Bang are definately one of my favourite acts of 09-10 and Sooner Or Later happens to be one of my most played tracks so take a listen.
5.
Okay I absolutely love the Tacklebox mixtape and it was really hard to pick one traack so I just went for the one most fitted for this list but checkout so neat, going camping, birthdays, great outdoors, strawberry girls, well lets just say get the friggin mixtape its great for the summer.
6.
When I heard Darwin Deez's original version of the track was okay but after the Xaphoon Jones (ofChiddy Bang)remix I absolutely love it so go and support him and download his mixtape. There are a bunch of sick tracks that are also on there like the Bob Marley mix.
7.
Example's track Won't Go Quitetly is another fun song to listen to for the summer when heading out.
8.
This would have to be one of my favourite tracks from J Davey. Get Together to me is like a beautifully crafted mellow song that just seems to go sooooooooo well with those chilled summer nights on the road. Also check out their mixtape Boudoir Synema: The Great Mistapes.
9.
Now Im not the biggest fan of most of Janelle's music but every now and then I find a gem in her work and for me Neon Valley Street would have to be mine from her most recent album, so definately check it out.
10.
Johnny Polygon's track Kids Broken Hearted is another good track from an underated artist. With his mixtape Rebel Without Applause hopefully he continues to make catchy tunes.
11.
Here is another canadian artist K-OS who has been reppin for our hip-hop scene for many years and continues to do us proud with this sick track.
12.
Kele from Bloc Party had me pretty skeptic when he first came out solo but this track really grew on me and now Im obsessed plus he's Nigerian so I'll definately support.
They are a Danish experimental duo that has a similar sound to the likes of Little Dragon and Lykke Li. Quadron consist of vocalist CoCo and producer Robin Hannibal. Quadrons debut album came out ealier this year or late last year and it is seriously one of my go to albums of the year with tracks like slippin, day, pressure, buster keaton, and average fruit. CoCo's voice is abolutely beautiful along with the production of Hannible, so please check them out.
There isn't really much to say about it. The visuals were beautiful, short and sweet, and because it's Kanye he had to set himself apart from the Gaga's out there with 30 minute videos. Remember it's more of a painting in movement so enjoy.
Well since us people here in Canada are late with good television show I've only recently come across this show which is like a supernatural version of Skins, check it out (Nate, the curly haired boy is hilarious!!!!) The new season starts in November but filming started in May. Practically five troubled teenagers have to do community service for the crimes they commit and end up being struck by lightning. After that happens they like many others have different supernatural abilities, some use them for good and some for bad. So for those not caught up check them out on Youtube.
Im a New York born Toronto raised girl with a Nigerian/British background who has a love for anythig that will let me be creative and express my artistic nature.
